On Saturday, January 17, 2015 some of Prime’s team joined forces with Hybrid Baseball Club Calgary (HBCC) to volunteer our services and assist in the success of the Special Olympics Bowling Tournament Dinner and Dance. Prime is also a sponsor of the Hybrid Baseball Club Calgary since 2014, so this was a wonderful opportunity for us to join this team of young athletes, parents and coaching staff and give back to our community.
There were approximately 750 participants from Special Olympics’ teams from all over the province, such as Edmonton, Lethbridge and Grande Prairie, that attended this event in Calgary. We found this event to be very rewarding and fun! As you can see from the photos, it wasn’t all work for the volunteers as some of us had some “avid admirers” who would not take “no” for an answer when the dance started. We not only assisted with the directing of participants to the buffet, serving of dinner and cleanup, but we also got to “shake our booty” a little too with the Special Olympics participants!
Everyone had a great time and the Special Olympic participants were giving us “high fives” and “fist pumps” all night long! They are truly a wonderful group of ladies and gentlemen and we were honored to be a part of their first big event of 2015!
The Hybrid Baseball Club of Calgary was formed for the purpose of creating a high performance AAA midget baseball team, playing in the Baseball Alberta League, with the intention of being more than just a baseball program. With a mandate to develop not only the player but also the person, members of Hybrid Baseball will gain community service and employment experience throughout the year, while having the opportunity to develop their passion for sports through a multi-sport model across seasons.
